Palgrave Test
Analysis : I am pretty sceptic about this kind of test. Despite of the fact that I recognize myself for the most part, I don't think that we can make a common generally around 60 questions on the personnality of people. Moreover, on the evaluation of risks, it is hard to identify a global way of decision because these one are changed with the business environment and context.
However, I'm obliged to admit that my scores are in the average score, excepted the one concerning the creativity which is below. Indeed, I'm often not really creative but once again, it depends on the context.

To me, these pictures perfectly fit the concept of entrepreneurship. Indeed, being an entrepreneur is a story of people.
These people have to work together, to work with somebody, to work on a single common project. Even an independant entrepreneur is far from being alone.
He needs to understand the suppliers, the clients, the reason why he could succeed. Moreover, having a great idea of business is nothing but the first step to create a company. What will make this business idea relevant or not are the people working for it. In my opinion, the most sustainable competitive advantage is people.
The second picture is a good illustration that a business is like a small tree. You have to feed your idea with ressources to make it grow. At the beginning of the story of entrepreneurship is always a small and relevant idea. You have then to exploit this idea in a good environment to transform it in success.

The five core competences that I identify for the people working in the team on my business idea are:
1-Environmentally friendly/Issues as opportunities
2-Ability to repair and build new computers
3-Creativity to determine new use of existing products and raw materials
4- Ability to work in a cross cultural environment
5- Ethical view of business and long term sight
The core competences that I consider as really relevant for being a good support in my business are the following:
1- Critical thinking
I’m convinced that this way to consider things and processes is really important to improve the work.Indeed, the ability to challenge established truths and to have a critical view helps in identifying the problems and provides new solution. It matters a lot when you work on new projects. Unfortunately, I don’t think that I am really good at it, that’s why having a person with this ability would be an advantage.
2-Flexibility
We are making business in the 21th century and the environment is moving really quickly. It’s really hard to adapt and to be as fast as the wind of change.Nothing can be taken for granted in a business where what was true yesterday is wrong today.As a consequence, I’d like to have people who don’t fear the change with a high ability to manage the change. 3-Being good with figures
Considering the information that figures are bringing is an important sight of running a business. Management control and accountability are difficult fields and the ability to be good at it to provide the relevant ideas are not easy to assimilate.I’m especially bad at it but aware of the importance of understanding figures to run a business.That’s why I’d like to have such competences in my team.
4-Environment friendliness
The heart of my business is based on the respect of the environment and the ability to create wealth to the exploitation of resources already available.The sustainability and profitability are linked. However, the person working in my business should consider the environment as a precious element to gain the initial motivation.The way how the organization will work will also be related to this way of thinking.
5- Team work Being able to work in a team is essential. The ability to take into account the problems and needs of each other within an organization is a way to increase the efficiency. My colleagues should also be able to work in autonomy but share information easily. The most important thing is the climate in which the people work. So, creating a good morale and atmosphere is necessary.

The first is obviously the eco easy trend. People and company are more and more concerned about environment.Far from only being a competitive advantage, business can now be made around this trend. Companies have to deal with it as consumers are always more demanding about this topic.As a recycling company, Sav-e-tech can benefit from this trend by catching the companies’ need of treating their garbage properly. This trend is also a long term tendency. If it is especially relevant for 2010, it will be even more in the years coming. As a consequence, my business will be able to surf on this wave for several years.
The second trend that naturally fit to my business idea is “embedded generosity”. Indeed, through the program launch in Africa, in partnership with the UNICEF, to give the odd computer of companies to children will have an impact in consumers’ minds. With this program, companies will have the feeling to realize a good action when throwing away their old computing materials.
Best Practice
Best practice is defined as "a way or method of accomplishing a business function or process that is considered to be superior to all other known methods". It means that in the same condition, an identified process is the more effective to provide an expected and precise outcome.
To my understanding, it exists often a commonly accepted process to lead and succeed in a precise task. It is easy to understand that some thigs have to be clearly established to give bearings to people and emphasize the results.
However, we have to be cautious with the best practices, especially in business. If some entrepreneurs sometimes succeed in their business, it is because they took the risk to process differently from the others.
Some new ideas, when they are launched can't benefit from a normal benchmarking because nobody has never created such a business.
Morever, I would give a lot of importance to the concept of "next practices". It is really important to understand the way how business will be in the years to come. We'll have to exploit the new trends etc....
That's why, I consider that my business will have to focus on things like eco friendly trends.
